. . . Is dying. Donapos;t know how else to say it, so Iapos;m being blunt about it. My wonderfully angsty little girl of fourteen years isnapos;t long for this world.
For those of you that havenapos;t heard anything about it: About a month ago, I had to rush Dot to the pet hospital because she wasnapos;t eating and was walking funny. I thought it was just an ear infection, but turned out a lot more serious. Turns out she had a urinary tract infection, possible kidney failure, and high blood pressure (turns out the combination of these things provides symptoms similar to an ear infection). They put her on blood pressure meds and antibiotics for the infection. And, sheapos;s been fine. So, I took her in for a check up on Monday.
After blood tests came back, I come to find out that sheapos;s in kidney failure and has become anemic. The Veterinarian told me today that Dot has 2 - 3 months to live (just in time for Christmas or my birthday . . . Lucky me). I knew her time was short, just not that short. Theoretically, I could extend her life beyond that, but that would require expensive and/or high-risk treatments that would only extend her life a few more months (into a time where sheapos;d be suffering and lingering). I donapos;t have the will to do that to her.
Iapos;ve already cried much of the tears that I can over this. Now, its time to just make her comfortable.
